Land Cover of the Pacific Northwest
Fine Art Print Map
Settlement in the Pacific Northwest is concentrated along
the Fraser and Columbia-Snake Rivers and their immediately neighboring valleys,
and in Alberta. The Canadian Coastal Mountains and Rockies (east of the Fraser
Plateau) are entirely forested below timberline, but these barren areas are
very extensive, and in combination with heavy logging of the regions’s
lower-elevation forests make the international boundary an apparent land cover
border as well.
Equally heavy logging has similarly altered the forests of
the lower Cascades and coastal mountains of Washington and Oregon. The Columbia
Basin’s extensive farmlands are unique; as in most of the West, localized
irrigated farmland areas are typical.
Included on the map: All of Washington, Oregon, Idaho, as
well as a small portion of northern California, with lots of British Columbia,
Alberta, and Montana.
Dimensions: All dimensions are approximate.
